Lead Estimator

Location: Northern Virginia

Own the estimating function end to end: takeoffs, labor and material pricing, and bid packages for structured cabling, fiber, and data center deployment scopes. You'll read the drawings, price the work, and defend the number in scope review.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage estimation teams for large-scale data center infrastructure projects.
Develop comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, and specialized technical requirements.
Analyze project blueprints, technical specifications, and site surveys to ensure accuracy.
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to validate equipment pricing and lead times.
Identify potential project risks and incorporate mitigation strategies into the cost basis.
Participate in client walkthroughs and bid reviews to present technical estimations.
Mentor junior estimators and technicians on best practices for infrastructure cost analysis.
Ensure all estimates align with industry standards and safety regulations for live facilities.

Preferred

RCDD or equivalent industry certification.
Background in project management (PMP) or field engineering.
Experience with Northern Virginia data center market specificities.
Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimation for data center infrastructure or large-scale industrial projects.
Deep understanding of structured cabling systems, fiber optics, and electrical distributions.
Proficiency in estimation software and advanced Excel modeling.
Proven ability to manage multiple bid cycles simultaneously with high precision.
Strong communication skills for vendor negotiation and client presentations.
Experience working in live production environments and mission-critical facilities.
